The plan includes an aim to set up a network of over 10,000 CSCs across India which will provide the much-needed information and services to the underserved rural population in India. ![]() The main aim of these centres is to provide cost-effective and high-quality e-governance services to Indian citizens.Ī Common Service Center or CSC is an information and communication technology access point which was set up under the National e-Governance Project by the government of India. Under this scheme, a budgetary allocation has been done to create 1,00,000 CSC in rural areas and around 10,000 CSC in urban areas. The main aim of these centres is to provide doorstep services to the citizens of India. The Common Services Centers or CSC was started by the government of India as a part of the National E-Governance Plan Scheme to provide government to citizen (G2C) and business to citizens (B2C) services under Bharat Nirman. The CSC e-Governance Services India Limited is a special purpose vehicle established under the Companies Act of 1956 by the Government of India to supervise the implementation of the CSC schemes in India and it helps to provide a centralized collaborative framework for the distribution of services to citizens through these centres apart from ensuring sustainability and systemic viability of the scheme. The centers are positioned as change agents which promote rural entrepreneurship apart from building rural capacities and livelihoods. ![]() With its PAN Indian presence, these centers are more than service delivery points in the rural parts of the country. These centres act as an access point for delivery of several government-run schemes across the country and hence contributing to a digital and financially inclusive society.
